hi, is it possible to buy travellers cheques here in Egypt? Has anyone here actually bought any recently? If so, where can you buy them, what currency can you pay for them in, etc? Thanks!

they are 'cheques' that you can buy and take abroad instead of cash, and you can exchange them for cash in the country you are going to (it's safer than carrying cash). They might be old fashioned now-that's why i'm asking if you can still buy them. American Express issue them and i've asked the branch in Heliopolis about it (on Facebook) i think they are closed for Eid because they haven't replied yet.
