Hello everyone,

Being an expat in Togo can turn out to be a wonderful human, social or professional adventure... with potential moments of nostalgia and homesickness along the way.

What are your personal tips to prevent homesickness?

How do you deal with such feelings?

Are there shops or stores offering products from your home country in Togo? Or maybe venues with music and ambiance from your homeland?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Hey Priscilla!!!

I know how you must be feeling.... Sorry!!! I am in Africa for last 15 years and I still remember my earlier days/months/years when I used to be homesick. Still once in a year I get that (Crazy but its true).

Well, in Lome you don't have much options but here what we (Indians) do....

1. We have couple of Indian supermarkets to hang around and to do shopping.
2. There are 2 Indian restaurants to kill time
3. Also there are number of good Labanese restaurents and bars
4. Mostly we guys go to play pool (billiards)
5. On Sundays we kill our time on different beautiful beach
6. Saturdays clubbing

But to prevent homesickness we meet on regular basis. We talk and make new friends.

Hope this will help you. Don't hesitate to call on ***.

Regards,

Sam
