You should check and see if the university have any groups or associations for international students as that is a great way to meet other people.
They also do a lot to mix the welsh students with the international students so you shouldn't have a problem meeting locals.
Welsh people are known for being friendly, down to earth and careless so do not worry about meeting people!
Even if you just go down to the local pub or students union: you will easily make friends!
