The Olympic Games are now just a few days away and we would like to talk about sports.
What sports are the most popular and/or unusual in the USA?
Are sports facilities easily accessible there? Where and how can one find sports clubs in the region?
Are there sports events regularly held in the country?
And you? What is your favourite sport? Which one(s) do you practice in the USA?

Hello,
1) In the United States football, basketball, and baseball are the most popular sports in my opinion. Soccer is also big but not as big as other parts of the world.
2) In my area we have the Golden State Warriors which is a basketball team, the San Francisco Forty Niners, and the Oakland Raiders, which are both football teams. Also, we have a professional baseball team in Oakland (A's) and San Francisco (Giants).
3) Sports are very popular in the USA so the Olympics in Rio will draw the attention of many Americans for two weeks during the games. We take great pride in our athletes and the sacrifices they make to prepare for the Olympics. But, if one has knowledge of sports, all athletes and their accomplishments are appreciated.

Sports are huge in the the US and which sport is popular is somewhat based on the region you live in. Soccer (Portland and Seattle both have MLS teams and women's pro teams as well) is huge in the Pacific Northwest along with Baseball (pro team Mariners in Seattle), Football (Seahawks), Basketball (Portland Blazers). There are also many playing smaller sports such as Waterpolo and Lacrosse.
Hockey is huge in the states where it is cold in the winter though pro teams are all over the US including soon to be in Vegas.
