Sports in France

Hello everyone,

The Olympic Games are now just a few days away and we would like to talk about sports.

What sports are the most popular and/or unusual in France?

Are sports facilities easily accessible there? Where and how can one find sports clubs in the region?

Are there sports events regularly held in the country?

And you? What is your favourite sport? Which one(s) do you practice in France?

Thank you in advance,

Priscilla

hello ,
Popular sports in France are football, rugby and handball, basketball, tennis and Almootoor sports and athletics, swimming, cycling and is held in the summer every year Tour de France.
Sports that are regularly held in the country? Cycling .
I love football, and practice them with friends.

Boules or Pentanque is the game to learn and enjoy if you want to meet local people in a relaxed atmosphere.  Almost every village or town has a boules area for local people to use, and often there is a league with well established teams.

But the game can be played anywhere there is a more or less flat surface outdoors - driveways often serve as temporary courts.  It is also sometimes advantageous to have a glass a pastis in waiting nearby.  The boules (balls) themselves can be bought in almost any sport store, some of which have guides to help you get the right size and weight for your hands.

The basics of the game are simple to learn. The skills of the best players, whether they 'point' or 'tir', are very impressive.

But don't hesitate to play the game, no matter your skill level. It is meant to be enjoyed with friends and family at picnics and gatherings of any kind.
