Insurance coverage in Costa Rica

Hello everyone,

Moving abroad requires adequate insurance coverage.

What type of insurance expatriates need the most in Costa Rica: health, house or liability insurance? All of them? Do they come as a package?

Are there other insurance options to consider like critical illness, damage or property insurance?

Is it better to purchase insurance from an expat insurance specialist or from a local insurance provider?

And what about insurance costs?

Tell us about your experience in Costa Rica.

Thanks!

Kenjee

Dear Kenjee,

it depends: If you will stay for a defined period an international health insurance is recommended.
For longer periods there are local health insurances and if you you have a visa the local health system is also available.

Damage for property is not usual but if you can get one its not bad.
