Kuwait : 60% of expat positions at stake

Hello everyone,

Kuwait's municipality is about to review numerous expat contracts and positions taking into account their qualifications and salaries. It seems that their salaries will be decreased following amendment of their job descriptions and titles while others' salaries might be increased.

In short, expats who do not fulfill their job duties, those who do not show up to work regularly and those holding fake degrees will be laid off. In fact, the local government aims at reducing the number of "unnecessary expats" by the end of 2016. The number of foreign teachers in the city will also be cut by 25%.

Note that Kuwait recently introduced a law compelling more than 50 years old expats to leave the country so as to make room for locals in the public sector.
