Transportation

We have been to the DR twice and are coming again this fall. We use the bus transports to get around and find them very accommodating. We are very curious as to why the bus lines stop at Río San Juan And cut off Gasper Hernandez and from the side stop at Sosua and cut off Cabarete. Does anyone know who pissed in who's Cheerios that resulted in that area being cut off from public transportation?

All the transportation lines are  "ruled" by unions, very powerful unions.  The areas, lines and routes are fought over on an ongoing basis.  Caribe tours and Metro go as far as Sosua on the north coast.

The gua guas and other buses have specific territories.  The union owners will fight for lines they consider profitable only.   My guess is the lack of traffic means they are not really interested.

You will have to use multiple carros publico to get to those places is my guess.
