Best place in Koh Samui ?

Hi,
As previously posted I am due over to KS next month for a month and was planning on staying in Lamui beach area.
Following discussions with loads of experienced travellers the general consensus is that a lone male visiting this area will be constantly harassed by street and bar girls which though maybe quite flattering for some is not really my idea of a relaxing trip.
I love my sports,cricket/rugby/golf etc..and do enjoy the idea of watching such in a tropical bar but not surrounded by young girls vying for drinks and extras.
Any suggestions on where I should stay to minimise this but without sacrificing atmosphere etc...?
I fully understand the this is part of the Thai culture and am not wishing to be judgemental.
