howdo all-
i am visiting vietnam in a month or so and would like to buy a bicycle for my time there. i don't need a 'bells and whistles' type, but just single gear like the locals. when in bangkok several years ago i found a shop in chinatown that sold new bikes. perhaps there is a shop or two in hanoi that someone can direct me to? i know how to ride a bike well and have no problems in dealing with the road congestion that is status quo. any suggestions in finding a bike would be helpful. thank you, brian.

You could also post an advert under Hanoi classifieds by selecting the Buy and Sell section and the Cars, Motorbikes sub-section.

Go down to Ba Trieu street. Its in downtown Hanoi. There's a handful of shops there, all right next to each other. You can get road bikes, mtn. bikes or those cheap silver CHinese ones, which I actually like. Between about $25-$ couple hundred+ for Japnese, Euro. bikes
