Stay in a monastery in Bulgaria.

Hello people, does maybe anyone has knowledge of a monastery where guests, people from outside are welcome to stay for some time? I don't mean any religion reason for that, neither I'm not a tourist running through those places. I mean more just a place, where one can stay and have a break from hectic city life...Thanks for any answers.

Hello Magsy13,

It is in Bulgarian and English.

Thank you.

Many monasteries in Bulgaria offer accommodation options. It depends on what you're looking for - big and heavily visited monastery or a small and quiet one, far from usual tourist routes.

If the first option suites you, then check the Bachkovo monastery and the Rila Monastery. There's a lot to see in both of these.

If you are for option 2, then check Glozhene monastery /Гложенски манастир/  and Dryanovo monastery /Дряновски манастир/. Be aware that most smaller monasteries may not offer food, so having a car at hand might be necessary.

The website in the previous comment is a very good guide!

Thanks Kristiann! Do all monasteries operate all year round, like in winter too?
