Till how long the signed contract is valid?

Can anybody help me out on this. I received an offer letter in June this year. Now they send me the contract papers to be signed? My contract in the present university is till July 2016. If I signed the contract now and will send would it be valid for one year from the date of signing my contract?
Please help me out in that

when you arrive in saudi, you will have to sign the contract again, and that should be your official hire date and from that day will be a year

Either you end your present contract or inform the new employer that i can join you on so and so date ! there is nothing to worry about validity of contract after signing, as rareshine mentioned above you need to sign contract again after you reach here !
