Water supply Sosua

Anyone know what is wrong with the water supply in Sosua this week.
I do not know if it's just a local problem around Pedro Clisante or is it all of Sosua?

Got used to not having any at night but this week there has been virtually nothing during the day, either nothing
at all or just a little trickle, not enough to have a shower, wash clothes, flush toilet or anything.

This really is quite intolerable.
One can put up with a lot of things in this town, but no water is beyond the pale!
Not been able to have a proper shower for 5 days now, place stinks because of lack of flushing, if lucky can flush once a day.
Emergency water supply also gone most of the time as there is just not enough water to top it up.

How can this town call itself a tourist area if they can't even supply damn water!

Oh great, just had power cut too!
And they call this a tourist town?... its a sad joke!

Is it just in your building, or is it wide spread? Sometimes the building didn't pay the bill or it could be a localized promblem  that needs to be rectified. If wide spread normally there would be demostrations, tire burning etc. Have you talked to business owners & anyone in the local government? When I lived in Sosua, (8 years + ) The water problem never lasted more than a day or two, even then rationing was in effect & published.  Sometimes the low water lasted for a long time, but could always have it for a couple of hours a day.  The DR has been in drought for several months &will last awhile longer.  The Dominicans are not shy about voicing their feelings.  Do some investigating & perhaps the solution is close to hand,  Good luck,& take a dip in the ocean or a hotels pool.

Yes Gypsy  it may well be a local problem, shall have to look into this further, as you said not many people would put up with no water for days without something happening. ....and yeah you're right about the drought, read somewhere Santo Domingo is on the verge of completely running dry, that should be interesting to watch :-)

Doms always get their priorities wrong, they built that fancy Cruise ship terminal costing millions ...would have thought be better spent improving the basic infrastructure first!

My building has a 15000 gallon concrete tank below and a big black plastic tank on the top of the building. So they never run out of water.

But I do hear sometimes the city running out of water every now and then. But we haven't been affected by it. The power is more of a problem. No power, no water pressure to pump the water.

Wow Luke someone pee in your corn flakes this morning.  Where have you been that you do not realize that there is a serious drought and water supply issue here?????  This is not new but has been going on for months.  Yes we are running out of water. Yes they have cut off water to many areas, Yes the electricity has had some outages but this is normal and not really  new.

I have seen water trucks all over town this week delivering water to various restaurants, hotels and condos.  Maybe you need to arrange for a delivery if you are in a villa and have  cistern or if in a condo talk to your administrators about a delivery.

The worst part about this is that there is no relief in the sight for the immediate future.

Yes, Sosua is a tourist town but like everywhere water has become a problem.  Not much we can do about it.

Well Bob, actually dont eat cornflakes in the morning :-)
and yeah, I knew there are some water probs thats why I said "about the drought, read somewhere Santo Domingo is on the verge of completely running dry"

Just not realised it would hit here so bad, Most tourist authorities in the world would have had contingency plans to make sure water does not run out in these areas, But of course this is DR- everything is Manana..
But to be fair looking on internet the whole of the Caribbean seems to be affected Puerto Rico, Cuba, etc..if rains done come soon, it could be a total disaster.
Well some strategist said a while ago, the next major war will be fought over water, not oil.

But simple fact is Tourist will not come here if there is no water!
So hope they will do something, but as you said there does not seem to be any immediate solution in sight right now.

As to we cant do much about it
Well some of us can- Move.

Decided after 6 days without washing and showers and struggling to flush toilet, this is the 21 century, I do not have to live like this!
Time to hit Internet and search for flights out of here.

Well, Its been nice DR while it lasted, but time to move on.
Life without water is not possible!

Bob K

Sorry it did not work for you.

All of the tourist resorts and restaurants have water.  If not street water then they are bringing it in by truck.  So the tourists will not be effected at all

Regarding the no water situation, you can just change your location to a building that has a large water storage cistern that never runs out.

Bob K

Some times not so easy to move. And even the bigger complexes are having problems.

The drought is country wide, moving may not solve anything.....

And - warning- let's stay on topic please. And thanks......

Tomas Cabrera

Hey Planner!
I started a new post for "Current Weather conditions on our beautiful Island"
I think it's needed.

I, for 1 am tired of hearing incorrect forecasts.
