Hi Dr.chaudhry,

You have posted your medical field related query under 'Banks and finance' ?!?

Please post appropriately.

Well, to briefly answer to you post - knowing how conservative this country is, no local woman (or man, for that matter) would allow for a male doctor to handle childbirth and related issues.

Suggest you do some background reading on the cultural, religious, and social issues and the prevailing customs and traditions in the Sultanate for a clearer understanding on the said sensitive subject.

thanks for your info

I seriously doubt it. I worked in women's health across three hospitals, two government, one private and no male ObGyn.

Thanks for your reply.can you got this information for me from head of departement?
Thanks in advance.

Susan Peterson

I am no longer in Oman. In obstetric emergencies eg instrumental deliveries the Paediatric male doctors would not enter the room until mother "covered" regardless of the need for urgency in newborn resuscitation. That should give you an idea of how unlikely it would be to get a male ObGyn.

thanks for answer
