Hello

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the blog & I have few queries.
My husband has been offered a job in Malaysia with MYR 16000 per month (Including tax & everything).
The visa, airfare, medical insurance, etc will be supported by the company & we have to pay for tax & other expenses like housing, food, utilities, transportation, etc. My daughter is 3 years old & we are not planning for her education rt. now.
Please suggest whether we should accept this offer or not. In India we are earning around 65000INR per month.
Looking for reply.
Thanks & regards,

If the job in Malaysia has a salary double the current earnings, then it may be worth taking, if its a career move. Anything less, avoid. COL is 30-35% higher in Malaysia.

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
As I am going to join a pharma group & is based in Shah Alam. What would be the nearest residential area where I can search the residence.
Moreover, any other suggestions.
Please I have to decide quickly.

Setia Eco Park is popular but there are lots of choices.

Hi,
Thanks  but the choices like, how to find the rooms for rent. Please specify & also  the tax part, my monthly take home would be around MYR 16000, so tax accordingly.
Thanks

Rooms are not normally available for couples to rent.

Tax is flat rate 25% for first 182 days. The graduated system is based on the annual salary. You take each band moving upwards and add the final column on the right together. When a salary is midway in a band, just multiply the portion in that band by the percentage and add that to the rest. When you have a figure, divide by 12 to get the monthly deduction.

You can rent accommodation from as low as RM1500 per month in some areas. An average would be RM2-2.5k per month. This is probably going to be your only option.  COL in Malaysia is 30-35% higher than in India. RM16k is a good salary here and you can make savings, but the salary must be at least double current earnings to make it worthwhile financially.
