Moving to Bahrain from India - Need practical infos!

Hi Friends,

I would be moving to Bahrain around 15 th of August/2015. I am coming  for a teaching assignment, and would be staying for 2 years( without family). I have a couple of questions. Your responses are highly appreciated.

1- What articles/utensils I should bring with me from India? I mean does it make sense financially to bring stuff with me?
2- Should I bring my smart phone with me? Is it going to work  there?
3- I need to buy a laptop. Will it be cheaper in Bahrain compared to in India?
4- How much money should I bring with me to meet my daily expenses ( for a month) before I get paid?

Thanks in advance!

Dear yash30,

1. Will depend on where are you staying, in Bahrain you could rent a fully furnished apartment which comes with some basic kitchen items. You could also carry some utensils with you if you don't have much luggage.

2. Yes any smart phone will work here.

3. Comparatively prices are the same, only thing is warranty if you buy here you will get Local warranty and if you buy in India (India warranty only).

read through the below mentioned posts to have an idea about the expenses.

Thanks a lot logicalindian for your response. Actually I was trying to find out approx (daily expenses food, and other consumable items) cost for a month. Renting stuff would be taken care of by employer. Any rough estimate?

Thank you.

considering average lifestyle for a single person, not more than 50-60BHD for food.

Thanks man!

I am having hard time in getting BHD(Dinar)) in India. I am planning to bring some Indian currency with me to meet my monthly expenses( get exchanged at airport). Any suggestion on it?

Yes you could get Indian currency and get it exchanged here at the airport, but note according to RBI limit you can take only 5000INR out of India. If you need more you can carry some USD and get it exchanged here.

In addition, also consider your cost of accommodation during the settling down period. Will your employer provide accommodation and if so for how long? If it is only a few weeks, then you will need to plan to pay advance and rent to your landlord.

best wishes with your move.

Thank You,

Another question please, I have a laptop that I bought in USA( with split pins in charging/plugging chord), and using it in India with 3 pin accessory ( three round shaped pins which plugged in wall outlet, and split pins are inserted in this accessory). Thus, my question is: Are electrical plug ins same as in India? If not, what kind of accessory should I get in India to use my US laptop there? Or could I find it (accessory) at the Bahrain airport?  Kindly help me on this.

Thanks

Thanks for responding to my query. Actually, I don't have to pay advance rent. I would just pay rent at the end of the month. As logicalindian  responded that 60 BHD would be enough to meet daily expenses for the month, that is what I was trying to figure out. If you could add more to it would be great. Your wisdom words are always appreciated.

have a good day!
