Hi,
I have been living in Bergen for a while, but am originally from Australia. I have two girls who are 5 and 3. How old are your kids?
I have a great group of international mum friends (including one from Brighton!) and I'm sure you will be most welcome to join us for a get together when you get here!
Looking forward to meeting you!
Melanie

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, its so nice to know that there are people in a similar situation.
I have a daughter Sofia she is 3 and a baby boy Isaac he is 4 months.
We are going to rent a house in Fana until we can afford to buy.
really looking forward to meeting everyone and making new friends it will make the move and transition easier.
i will keep in touch and let you know nearer the time when we are on our way.
we are just starting to box things up for storage and putting our property up for rent.... stressful!
look forward to the spring, take care and thankyou again.

Hi Ingvild,

If you are interested in meeting other English speaking new Mums when you have had a baby, have a look at these parenting groups...

melanie, this is just what ive been looking for... i was so worried about being isolated with the children when i move to bergen, but this looks brilliant. thanks for sharing the link.

Hi Michaela,

Congratulations on your move to Norway next spring.  I myself am in transition to Bergen, making the move to be with my boyfriend and his two young children (part time).  I am not a mum myself, but have a very active role in family life with the kids; two boys aged 4 and 7 and would very much welcome meeting new friends to hang out with, with and without the boys.

I make the official move at the end of November but will be back and forth to England a couple of times before Christmas and after for a couple of functions so if you fancy the opportunity of meeting up this side of the ocean before your move, please do let me know.  I'm 39 by the way.. a young 39 ;)

Best wishes
Lisa

Hello - I have just come across this blog, I just moved to Bergen last week with my husband and 2 children, a 3 year old daughter and a 3 month old baby boy.  We are Lebanese, and have been moving about for some time.  We have moved here from Houston and it would be nice to meet other mums in the area.

mickyluv

hi houry, how exciting for you, how you finding Bergen? i cant wait to move, we arrive in the spring. i have a 3 year old daughter and a 5 month old son, so very similar in ages, thats brilliant. look forward to meeting you and your family for coffee.

mickyluv

hi lisa, its all very exciting also quite scary and daunting moving to another country, so it would be great to meet up and have a friend or two to have coffee with. hope the move goes smoothly for you and wonderful to be in Norway for christmas. hopefully it might snow!!! keep in touch.

Hi!

Sorry about my late reply...

Our son Victor has arrived! He was born on the 3rd December and we're enjoying every seccond of parenthood (perhaps with the exception of the sleepless nights..) It's incredible that he is finally here.

The hospital told us to keep Victor inside till after New Year but after that I'd love to meet up!

I live by Svartediket, near Haukeland Sykehus. Whereabouts in Fana will you be Mickyluv?

Mezz, thanks for the tip - I'll have a look at the parent pages:)

Ingvild :D

mickyluv

Ahh many congratulations to you and your family, how exciting.

we are going to be living in Nordvik on fana, its quite far from most things but hopefully we will have a car or just rely on public transport...
Are you near the hospital? i asked my Norwegian mother in law and she thinks that near you.
We are going to start in the new year applying to move, very exciting, hoping to be there for 17th May.
enjoy your christmas with your baby boy.
catch up soon. mick

FruJefcott

Thank you:D We are very excited!

Yes we live about 5 minutes from the hospital and in walking distance from town. Very convenient as we don't have a car.

Do you have any plans for what you will be doing over here?

Ingvild :)

mickyluv

Not really any plans yet, just going to move out there...!
Tom my husband is already looking for work, he's in construction but he will do anything to just get a wage until he finds something he's happy with, we have two children so ill be with them until they go to school.
we eventually want to move nearer to town as Fana is a bit far when you don't have a car, its a family members house that they were going to rent out, so rent to us was cheap. perfect for getting settled.
really looking forward to coming now.:D

mickyluv

Hi all, im moving to Bergen on the 13th may, do you have any plans for a get together near end of may or june. would love to meet up for a coffee. :D

ZombieTron

Hi, just found this board. I have been living in Bergen for 2 years now (I'm a Londoner) and have a 20 month old little girl with my Norwegian partner. We have family living in Fana, so are there pretty much every weekend, it's a lovely place.

Would love to get together with other expat families for coffee and chat and for our little ones to play together. :)

Best of luck with the move mickyluv!
