I got an offer from ADNOC oil company supposedly but they want me to send $650 to some guy to get a Gulf Oil Certificate of Approval to supposedly work in Abu Dhabi.  Do any of you know anyone at the oil company that I could check this out with or do you have a phone number you can send me for the HR department there?

If you are willing to believe for one second that it's not a scam, then you might be also interested in some nice waterfront property that's for sale in Fujairah.

Of course this is not right!
Check out their website and you will find their complete contacts there!

Thank you.  Do you know if expats who work for ADNOC have to have a Gulf Oil workers certificate of approval or not?

This is indeed a scam. Never send money on the pretext of a job offer.

Never heard of a Gulf oil workers certificate. Sounds like an expensive piece of rubbish

We had to visit Dubai twice, once for the Air Show. Its a glitzy city,in my opinion without a soul. The locals dont integrate with the expats unless they have a vested interest. If you can visit the place as a tourist and call on the Oil companies yourself it would serve your purpose better.Knowing the local language helps, at least you are not being misled behind the smiles. All third world countries have limitations. My best example of the middle east is the new movie Sex and the City !
Early this year, Ex-pats just drove their expensive cars to the Airport and left the country. The credit laws if violated are severe.

He's talking about Ab Dabs. Which is very different to Dubai.

Which was made in Abu Dhabi

What does this have to do with his offer of employment from ADNOC?

Dillyk

Same culture, same style, same people. We have travelled through most of them. Probably the dialects differ & the food.

lovely Abu Dhabi

@peetgr this is the web-link to ADNOC http://www.adnoc.ae/default.aspx
at the bottom you will find "contact us"  hope you will have success :-)
@ Sandman6 i am sorry to say that, but as far as i know "sex and the city2" was made in Marocco but the story should play in AD.
I heard Abu Dhabi didn't give the go to produce the movie here.
@Dillyk you were twice in Dubai and now you know everything about UAE ???
Actually i will see the movie Sex and the City, but until now i didn't make it. As i heard from people who are living here the movie has absolutly nothing to do with the life here!!!
next of your lies: emiraties don't want to integrade with the expats??? Ah ok i see, perhaps they should wait at the airports and harbours to welcome each tourist and invite them to their homes.
How you can judge so badly about people you even don't know.
I live in this country only 2 years and i have local and expat friends. Here are so many really nice people who have much interest (not vested interest) in other cultures and they are very kind.
If you made other experience, maybe you should ask yourself why?!?
It is such a great place to be!!!
@ peetgr if you get the chance to work here, than take the great opportunity, but please never pay for it that is fake!!!!

bye for now

maureenherber

Lovely Abu Dhabi-Your right Sex in the City was filmed in Marrocco due to not being allowed to filmed here becuase of its Racey Content.
Dillyk- You are so wrong about Locals not wanting to Intergrate, Ive have some wonderful Local friends. Maybe you should of made more of a effort to get to know a local before you Judge.

Peetgr - It is a scam!! contact Hr Dept direct.
