What would you recommend to young professionals wishing to start their career in Romania?

The country lacks employment opportunities. Most people leave the country to work in other EU countries like Italy, Spain, UK, Germany. The best thing to do to work in Romania is to set up a business and do what you know to do best. The pay in Romania is cheap, so if you do find work in Romania expect a low income.
