Hi all,
I am new to this forum. Me and my wife have a job offer in muscat as specialists in medicine in same hospital.we are planning to shift in 2-3 months. I have read thru the forum and have few doubts. Since both of us have employment visas can we come together with kids (9years & 4 years) ? Or either one or both of us have to be there and then apply for visa for the kids? If so, will it take 6 months or what's the time needed for this? Since we will be coming in September, will we get admission for kids at that time in Indian schools (for 5th& UKG)? Do we need any recommendation or donation for this? Thanx in advance...

You should solely discuss this case with your employer. Since the employer of both of you is same, they should understand the scenario and grant the family joining of your children.

The simple answer to your query is, just a conversation with the HR.

Hi Muna Marwaan,

As per the local (Islamic) laws, it is only the father who has the privilege of sponsoring his children, and not the mother. However, in rare cases a mother can be allowed to act as the children's sponsor. But it is very rare.

In such cases it is entirely at the discretion of the issuing authorities. They are not obliged to grant a dependent visa status for the mother - but like I said before, in rare cases they do oblige. And it is not compulsory. But it will entirely be their decision - and not the mother's, or the sponsors.

It is better for you to clarify this important issue with your prospective employer and seek their help in getting the matter sorted out in your favour.

If the husband is no more alive, the authorities generally grant the family visa to mother, however the marriage certificate,  the death certificate of the husband and other necessary related documents to be produced.

A similar case had been obtained recently in PDO and the company provided the visa for her 2 children. She is now working in Oman.

Since both of you got working visas your children will get their visas and they can travel along with you.  Get in touch with your company hr guys and request them to arrange visas for your children. Since both are not older than 14 years age, they need not need a medical certificate from a GAMCA centre. As regards schools they are Indian schools such as Indian School Ruwi, etc and in every conceivable place, so they can pursue their education here just as scores of indian families are doing right now.
