Working remotely in Brazil is a tax violation?

Hi,

Would like to understand if my employer has signed a contract with me in another country & I decided to live in Brazil since my job doesn't require physical presence in the office, will that have a tax violation issue due to the fact that my salary is still paid in the country of contract and not being taxed by the Brazilian government?

Thanks

No it is not a tax violation, but you would need to file a Brazilian income tax return (Declaração de Imposto de Renda Pessoa Fisica - DIRPF) every year and report that foreign income as part of your "worldwide" income. If your country does not have a bilateral Tax Treaty with Brazil then you have no protection against double taxation, other than what your own country's tax laws provide you.

Thanks James, you are always such a support.

My current job is in Dubai, so it is a no tax country, how will that play? will I have to pay a taxation when I file a Brazilian tax return?

Ahmad
