I'm curious what it will cost to have internet at my home in Kampala.
I will be downloading about a Gb or two a month and will need access all day. Also what do mobile phones cost? If I have a BlackBerry can I just bring it there and get a sim card for it?

Internet cost you about 50,000/- Ugx that is about 25 US$ per month, its a high speed internet from Orange, MTN and UTL, 50,000 you can access full month with 1GB down/up loads, about Mobile charges are 180/- UGX about .08 US$ per minute for local calls and about 300/- Ugx for International calls and sure you can bring your blackberry with you.

Orange is a good provider and warid have just launched an even higher speed service.
Suggest getting any phones unlocked before coming to Kampala. You can have them unlocked at Shoprite, Clock Tower, but not cheap.
