Arriving at last

After my successful interview on 23 June, I'm going to arrive in Tripoli on Sat 25 Sept.

Why the delay? First of all there was a family holiday already booked. Then came the holy month of Ramadan and my employer decided wisely that it wasn't the best time to arrive. Now, two weeks after Eid, I've finally got my ticket and I'm on my way.

I believe I'm going to be on the Al Ghani field working a 6/3 rotation.

Even at my age I feel like a teenager setting out on my first adventure. I've been based in UK for 9 years now, and I've found it a real struggle to settle in. I think that reverse culture shock is MUCH more powerful than the initial culture shock. I see and hear the small-mindedness and insularity in UK society and despair. Going back to the Arab world is going to be like coming home.

I'm really looking forward to learning a new flavour of Arabic and getting new experiences under my belt.

I hope to meet some of you as and when.

See you soon,

Astonished

Ghani field is a great place to be honest worked there for 6 years and if your going to be in the Haoruge Office in Ghani...you will absolutely love it.

Have fun and try to avoid the desert heat as it can get really HOT out there.

This is a good time to arrive. And it sounds like you have few too many Arab genes, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it :)

Safe journey Seymour!  Hope it all goes well for you.  :)

Good for you Semyour....

How long you will last is your guess. Harouge are drilling in the 1950's and only a bung will lead them to the 21st century. It really so f***** sad that this bullshit goes on

They've just heard about drag bits, but don't want to take the risk on "new technology" :):)

Drag bits?

I though the dress standard was smart casual with closed shoes.

I'm not happy about drag at all!
