Hi,
A friend of mine recently moved to Luxembourg and is looking for a good local school for her son. They are living in a temporary housing right now and so are ready to move to any neighborhood, as long as there is a good school nearby. They are looking for a school that would have a good friendly atmosphere, quality education, friendly and supportive staff. A school where the boy will feel comfortable - he is very talented and was an excellent student in his home country, but currently doesn't speak any Luxembourgish or German. The school where he goes at the moment is not great - teachers are not supportive and he gets quite a bit of bullying from the kids. Would really appreciate your recommendations on this topic. it's a difficult choice, and there are many factors to consider... We are struggling with making the choice for our kids ourselves, but we still have a few years to explore the options. If your friend fancies the Lux system and doesn't mind moving, I heard that a school in Mersh is good. My expat friends have their kids there and are very happy so far. They get plenty of attention from various teachers and specialists to help their kids integrating into a new linguistic environment. Besides, they get all types of assistance to help their older boy, who has some hearing problems, coping with the change: they even rebuilt the classroom to improve acoustics for the boy. Also, I heard that the Michel Lucius Lyceum in Limpertsberg is good from the academic point of view. They even have international English section.
