Hello and welcome!

Great to hear you're thinking of moving to Malta, its lovely! Where are you coming from? What made you decide on Malta?

October is a good time to come, we rented our flat in June and were told prices generally lower once peak season is over. Bugibba is lovely and I obviously don't know your budget but I know that I don't have a massive one and could afford a real luxury place in that area!

The following are some estate agents, I would recommend Bel Air as they were the best for us. I also think it's a good idea to email them with an idea of what you want and tell them you want a full day viewings. They'll take you on between 4-15 viewings in one day to help you find the perfect place!

Depending on where you come from, I find Malta a lot cheaper for cost of living. Although utilities can be a bit higher than the UK but I find shopping, rent and general eating/drinking out a lot cheaper.

Friendly locals, low crime rate, gorgeous rocky beaches, plenty of gorgeous sandy beaches and cheap travel.

Roads are hectic and probably a bit dangerous if you're driving, buses will have calmed down a bit around October but they can get pretty packed in peak season!

Thanks for that information, im from the UK but at the moment im living in Stavanger Norway which i have to say is the most expensive place i have ever lived!!!! i came to Malta few years ago and loved the place i also work with a few Maltese lads on the rig and the more i talk to them about Malta the more i want to come back, i do get advice from them but i wanted proper advice of some Expats, thanks for you help any more would be great,

Cheers
Mark:)

I've compiled a little compact guide on my blog

joeandharryabroad.wordpress.com/compact-guide

it is quite specific to the sliema/st julians area that is not close to Bugibba but bits about renting/utilities and travel are universal so feel free to have a look!

I love it here, the rent is so much cheaper than Hertfordshire where I was, so hopefully you'll find it cheaper too. I love Bugibba sqaure, right by the sea with plenty going on, casino, bars, restaurants but 5 mins up the road and you're away from the noise and can rent a lovely size flat!

The only things I really miss are cheap internet/tv packages. Over here it's about 50EUR a month for a decent package but the Tv just isn't the same. I tend to use sites like project free tv to watch everything and iplayer/4od etc

And also its about 17EUR where I live to get a roast dinner in a cafe... you can just make one yourself for as cheap as back home but sometimes its nice not to have to do it yourself but for 17EUR its not really worth it!

Hey Mark! My husband and I moved from Norway to Malta as well (although we're canadian). If you spend some time reading the backposts on this blog you'll see there's a lot of great advice tucked away.

Best of luck
