Please help!!! Copy of marriage certificate from Egypt

My friend (UK citizen) married an Egyptian woman in Egypt. Marriage was legalized through UK consulate. She abandoned him in UK, took all documents with her and he does not know where she is now. Two years have passed and they are still married to each other. He has tried to file for divorce in UK, but can not do it without a copy of the marriage certificate. Every attempt to get a copy of the certificate failed. Travel to Egypt is not possible and he does not have the finances to hire a solicitor. What can he do?

i could interdeuce him to an Egyptian lawyer who may be able to help him and the fees will much lower than those of the UK lawyers

if he got married at the British Consulate in Cairo then he should apply for a copy of the certificate from them….he could also look up in the UK marriages dept to see if they have a copy…

he will not need the egyptian certificate to get a divorce in the UK…..only the british one.

he should also report her to the immigration authorities as she may have applied to them for leave to enter the UK and for this she will need and use the paperwork that she has.

good luck
