I would like to seek an advice for a friend who is suffering a post trauma effect after her ordeal in a hold up incident here in Lae.  It happened infront of her accommodation before coming to work around 7 am when three rascals pointed a gun to her and trying to take her together with the vehicle and other valuable belongings fortunately she manage to get out of the car and ran back inside her flat.

Its given that i cannot seek justice for her due to existing lawlessness of the nation, as the local police are incompetent to track down these criminals and bring to jail.  At present, my friend is still in trauma state and cannot sleep at night and shaking.  What can i do to give her comfort? She's been here in PNG since 1974 and here in Lae for eighteen years and this was the first time.

Appreciate your soonest advices.

Cheers,

Hi
Best is for her to move to a friends place ASAP., at lease a couple of weeks. She will get over the trauma.
If the place she is living is not safe, move to a safe location.
When Rascals come with guns etc, best give what you have without arguing with them. Insurance will take care of the replacements. In case if the Rascals got the house keys, consider new locks.
Often the holds up are organised by the Security or possible with house maids.
When you are driving home, please check be vigilant who is behind you on the road, do not go out after 6 p.m in Lae

Hi Manel,

Thanks for your input.  Actually, she was just a few steps away when these rascals held her up and even if she is giving all the things she have they want to take her together with the car.  There was no household security and shes living in nearby town and police station.  Only now the company provide guard dog security. This incident happened 7 o'clock in the morning and we know thar it's not safe or there's no safe place here in PNG that's why we dont go out at night. She's been here in Lae for eighteen years and me for eight years. My worry is until now she is trembling and sleepless at night.

Hi Best advise is move out of the house a well secure compound. Employer should do this., temporarily please ask her to stay with a friend. if the employer is not helpful.
