Looking for an International School Near Brussels

Hey Everyone,

My family and I just found out that we may be moving back to Brussels after about 10 years abroad. I have missed Belgium and the lifestyle so much, but ever since I moved abroad, which was when I was about 6, I have been taught and schooled purely in English. My parents' native languages are both French as they are both Belgian, and I can speak, read and write without too many problems, but because I only have two years of schooling left after this year, I would prefer to continue my schooling in English. I have searched long and hard to find a reasonably priced English or bilingual school near Brussels, as we own a house there, but I have been unsuccessful with the results.

If anyone is able to shed any light on the subject or offer me any solutions I would be thrilled,

Thanks for your time.

The cheapest school which does A levels / IB in English around Brussels is ISF Waterloo and your choice of A levels is very limited there. Otherwise you are looking close to 30k at the other 3 big international schools in English or even the small International Montessori which does just IB and has just started.

I'd advise you instead to look at STATE boarding schools in the UK. There are around 40 of them. The nearest one to Belgium is quite accessible, the Duke of York's Royal Military school in Dover, 11k per year, 7 day boarding, accepts and indeed encourages non military children now, has some of the best facilities of any state school in the UK, really luxury boarding facilities compared to private schools, the 16-18 year boarding house was only completed last year and is single or double rooms en-suite. You have to have done ideally GCSEs or other exams they can use to assess ability at age 16, as the year 12 and 13 is entry on interview, they only take high achievers. From next year, students are able to leave school on Saturday mornings and return Sunday evenings, so you could get the Eurostar back for the weekend.

State UK boarding is half the price at least of the international day schools in the greater Brussels area.

Best is BSB. British school of Brussels .

All the international schools are in the 30k€/year range.  You can try to ask for financial support, but that will be really hard for the IB-Diploma years, as demand is quite high for the Diploma Years.

I agree with Tervurener about looking into the UK schools.
For girls, the GDST schools are also very reasonably priced, and some offer IB.
Entry is on interview and subject test results, but no need for (I)GCSEs.
