Friday Night Happy Hour

It seems to me that there is an endless string of expats here trying to meet other people, but trying to organize something that will accommodate everyone is a logistical nightmare.

My suggestion: A roving weekly get-together so folks can meet other folks. That way, if the time and place don't work for you - no problem. Maybe next week's will. It just seems to me if nothing specific is announced and complied with, the meetings don't happen.

Since I spoke up, I'll set the first one:

Date: Friday, 3 October
Time: 6:00 pm
Place:  Paddy Rice  (Corner of Sisowath Quay and St. 136)

I picked the place because it's easy to find for newbies (like me), can easily handle a handful of folks, and is close to lots of other places in case people want to head out afterwards.

Feel free to post a response if you can make it, but feel free to show up even without an RSVP. This is very informal. If you can't make it, don't fret. Somebody will pick a time and place for next week and, hopefully, you can make it to that one.

Let's see how this works.

Thanks for arranging this.  I just arrived in PP a few days ago and would love to meet with others.

See you there on Friday!

We have a few confirmations and tonight's happy hour is a go. If you show up looking for us, my name is Sheldon and I'll be sporting an orange shirt and a ponytail, so we should be easy to pick out. Of course, you can just walk around and introduce yourself to random folks until you find somebody that interests you. Whatever floats your boat . . .

Hope the night is going well. Would be interested in joining the next one!  :)

Thanks, Samantha, it was a good time. Keep an eye out here for the next one. A time and place for next weekend's happy hour should be posted early in the week.

Yes, the Friday Night Happy Hour will be back this week. To keep the floating aspect of it alive, and since I'm still a newbie, I'm seeking recommendations for venues that are ideal and convenient for people who want to attend. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Like I said, there will be another get together this weekend. I will post the details on Wednesday and I hope to hear some recommendations by then. Hope to see you Friday.

Hi Sheldon,,

Thank you for arranging last Friday's meeting, it was a good to meet you all.

It might be worth looking at the Fish Bar by the night market as they have live music on a Friday and Saturday evening?

I'm always open to suggestion, so this week's Friday Happy Hour will be at Fish Phnom Penh, on the corner of Sisowath Quay and St. 108.  I've never been there and I can't guarantee music, but I feel comfortable guaranteeing beer.  If the time is too early for you, and if last week is any indication, the word "Hour" in "Friday Night Happy Hour" is used loosely, so feel free to stop by a little later.  Hope to see some new faces and meet some new folks!

Date:  Friday, 10 October
Time:  6:00 pm until sometime later
Place:  Fish Phnom Penh  (Sisowath Quay and St. 108)

Since there are other places that include the words Fish and Phnom Penh by the riverside (go figure), I'm adding a link to the location to avoid confusion.  Hope you can make it!

I will see you Friday

Just a reminder that tonight's Friday Night Happy Hour will be at Fish Phnom Penh at the corner of Sisowath Quay and St. 108.  Everyone is invited, everyone is welcome!  If you have problems finding us, just sit at a table with the guy in a ponytail.  If there's more than one of us, no problem.  Guys with ponytails are usually pretty cool, so even if you sit at the wrong table, you're bound to have a good time.

Sound great! I wish I could join you guys, but I just move to Seim Reap.

Yes, if you were wondering, the Friday Night Happy Hour will be back again this week.  This time around, we will be moving away from the riverfront because, well, why not?  This week's venue will be Score Sports Bar and Grill at No. 5, Street 282, between Streets 51 and 57.  (I'll add a link to the website at the bottom of this post.)

The start time will remain the same - 6:00 pm - but the happy "hour" should continue at Score for at least a few hours before either ending or relocating, so feel free to come late if 6:00 is too early for you.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here or send a PM.  Easier-to-read details are below.  Hope to see you Friday!

As a reminder, tonight's Friday Night Happy Hour will take place at Score Sports Bar & Grill (No. 5, Street 282, between Streets 51 & 57) starting at 6:00 pm, though I'm sure there will be people there for a few hours before the happy hour either ends or moves to another location.

I still haven't had a haircut, but I have changed my shirt, so if this is your first time, you can look for the guy in the ponytail and green t-shirt.  If it's not your first time, then you already know what I look like.  Either way, hope to see you there!
