Moving there

I work in the alderta Canada oilfield, and I'm very serious about moving to Malaysia.I'm looking at 2months in Canada, 1month Malaysia, maybe finding oilfield work in Malaysia. I'm not sure its the right place for me, maybe after you've read this you can help me out with some pointers.

: is Malaysia ideal over let's say Thailand
-Is Kuala Lumpur a good place in Malaysia
- how do I go about owning property
- house or condo
- what's the crime like
- is it bumper to bumper all the time, is there less buisier places
- how's the food
- am I going to get conned like I've hear in Thailand
- for a mortgage do I do it in Canada or Malaysia
- health care
- visas
- cost of living

I'm aware a lot of answers to these questions are on the net, just seeing what gets replied on here

Hi,

Perhaps you can consider to stay in Penang, Malaysia. The crime rate is low. It is an island so you will more relax here. If you wish to own a property here, then you have to mortgage through the banks in Malaysia and it is depending on which city you are staying at.

Penang is very famous in term of health care. You can visit the web page here: http://mypenang.gov.my/index.aspx?page= … 67;68;.pgt

In term of food, Penang is well known about food paradise. http://www. my-island-penang.com/Penang-Food.html

If you are really planning to move over to Malaysia, you can consider about MM2H that is promoted by Malaysia's government for foreigner. http://www.mm2h.gov.my/index.php/en/

Please let me know if you require further assistance.

Thank you. I know there's lots of investigating ahead for me lol . I appreciate your information.

The MM2H programme is a 10 year social visit pass which allows freedom of entry and exit. You can be on it as long as you are working outside Malaysia.

The criteria is a level of monthly income outside Malaysia and making a bank deposit for 1 year, after which half can be withdrawn.  www.mm2h.gov.my

There are minimum purchase prices for property by foreigners. These range from RM500k to RM2 million depending in which State the property is located.
