Hi guys,
My name is Karthik. I am from Bangalore, India. I am keen on finding a job in Ukraine and my future goal is indeed to settle down in Ukraine if possible. I am a software engineer and have a three year work experience. I also have a recent Management MSc from The University of Nottingham, UK. I need some guidance from you guys. Please let me know if the Ukrainian companies would be willing to hire people from India and would be willing to sponsor a working visa, or would I have to apply for a visa and look for a job there. I would also like to know if I do obtain a visa, how easy would it be for an expat to find a job there?

- Thanks and Regards,
  Karthik

please advise

I'm interested in re-locating to Kiev and would like to teach business courses in English at a college, university, or institute. Would appreciate feedback on the feasible of this idea and of course suggestions on contact points would be appreciated.

Privet ;) I am mexican and I am living in Crimea. I am learning russki and of course, speak spanish. I am communicologist specialist and journalist...if someone needs some about communication field, here I am ;) Greetings to everyone

I think for anyone considering the move to Ukraine in hopes of  finding a job it is important to realize that for all of its European feel and at times posh flare the country is still a very poor, backward and unreformed (from Soviet times)  place. Even in the capital salaries rarely exceede $500/month average, food prices are on par with the rest of Europe and industrial products (anything imported) cost twice as much. In addition accomodations and real estate prices in general (especially in the capital) are very high (a small studio appartment close to Kiev city center goes for $700-800 and approximatly $400 on the outskirts). Then there is corruption, falling appart infrastructure and bad governance... Simply put - make your own decisions, but make them informed ones

Second to that,
Rate of life is constantly declining.

Unofficial rate of unemployment is 25%.

Only jobs as Foreign language teacher or translator are safe for foreigners. In other jobs foreigners can be forced to leave by colleagues even if manager want them to stay.

Ukraine can be unsafe for not white foreigners.

Avoid talking in native language on street at late night.

Ollegy is too soft to say about corruption. There is CORRUPTION.

I think it will be better  to find a job before you are moving. We have the same problem with unemployment as most European countries.
& I agree with oleggy: "Even in the capital salaries rarely exceede $500/month average, food prices are on par with the rest of Europe and industrial products (anything imported) cost twice as much".
Unfortunately...
I've came back from Germany 1 month ago, so there was a more cheapest life then in Kiev.

ASK yourself...."Why Ukraine ?" Again. Is it the beautiful four seasons and lovely winters.... great health care opportunities, excellent dairy / palm oil products...( from what cows ? ) kind and efficient police services, unbias news reporting....or maybe the 20% import tax on your car...that draws you here...? Take off those rose colored glasses. I love it !! The road from Borispol to downtown is great !!! Look in the Kyiv Post for a job....or look for work in Canada...
Shas lava !! ( be lucky )
Lahr

Again, the most important thing for me as a Ukrainian is to help prospective expats who might have unrealistic expectations when coming to Ukraine. For sure as in any place there is beauty to be found in Ukraine somewhere... I just feel it is important for people to understand that the cost of living is high and job opportunities scarce, the salaries low and the political system corrupt, the infranstracture falling appart and public services non-existent without a bribe... Now, I also know that many come to Ukraine for girls, but just ask yourself - in a corrupt, twisted society like that is it possible to find a wife and not be taken for a ride (SPENDING HUNDREND IF NOT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN BETWEEN).

Yeah, it is funny though how the government types don't make very much salary, but drive brand new luxury Mercedes/Hummers, etc. Weird.

I also am looking to find a job in Kyiv. I am married to a woman in Kiev and I currently work in Afghanistan. I am an electrician but am not afraid of other manual work. I used to be an office furniture installer before becoming an electrician. I know the salary is not comparable to that of the states but I want to be with my wife as we purchased an apartment in Kyiv recently. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
