Hi all, my husband has been offered a job in Riyadh and I wanted to know if their is a family type community there? Are there regular get together 's . I have been reading a lot on here that people get bored and to some extent depressed. Are the compounds/apartments close to each other? .Now I know a lot of people are working hard or are very busy with life itself but how can I avoid this problem (boredom).

Since you will be living in a compound you will have better opportunities of meeting people. Compound is all about community living.

the only way to survive Saudi is to either live in a compound or Diplomatic Quarters.
