Hi everyone,

My wife and I are thinking of buying a holiday home in Flix. Is anyone familiar with this area at all? Is it safe to leave the home vacant when we are back in the US? Thnx for your time.

Hi! Flix is an area with a nuclear power station. There are 2 more in the area and a chemical plant too.
I would say that houses left empty are prone to break ins. I know of two which are broken into regularly. One of them belongs to my neighbour who is there in the daytime but goes home at night. The other is a holiday home. I think you'd have to put in alarms and pay a neighbour to keep an eye on it. Having said that the area is underpopulated and very beautiful.

Thanks for your reply. Very helpful info indeed. Are you familiar with l'Ampolla or Puebla de abando at all? We are looking for a safe town since we plan to use the holiday home just a few months a year.
