Moving to Cairo to teach

Hi all!  I am a 27yro New Zealander who is currently looking at moving to Cairo to teach (primary) later this year.
Any advice on getting a job, moving to and living in Cairo, etc, would be greatly appreciated  :)

(I now have a job, thanks everyone who gave advice. Please note I am not looking for a bf!)

I do have my degree - Bachelor of Education. I'm updating my CV at the moment so I can start applying. Teacher CVs here are much different to overseas however, so am trying to research the expectations (information required) for this.

hi mitzka try to send some information's to your mail box but yours is fully loaded try to clean it to be able to send message for you.

Thanks Ibrahim, I hadn't noticed!

Hi
get a job before you come - if you wait until you are here the whole package will be less (money, accommodation and flights ) - also there will be more chance of being asked to work illegally.
check the education supplements of the British newspapers, google international schools in cairo - send your cv (and don't hold back on any of your qualifications / experience - the headteachers of the schools are European western teaching professionals so know exactly what they are looking at.  Check the specialist education websites ' websites for teaching jobs.
you need to do this now as the summer vacation is imminent and the schools are recruiting now.

and ignore most of the guys who have in boxed you - don't give out any details skype names etc. - they really aren't interested in you

LOL I love that you knew about my inbox without me saying anything, Biffy. Don't worry, I have been to Egypt before and have a couple of egyptian friends so I know what these ones are like ;)
Thank you for your advice, I'm getting in contact with schools this week :) One question I have - do they require referees or references? My previous employment here and in UK required referees but have noticed some people online mentioning references...

[moderated: offensive comment]

@ibrahim - think you need to look up the word racist as well as the word expatriate!! Rather than being rude and obnoxious.
I am one of the least racist people I know - just giving good advice - which seems regarding the the reply from the original poster Mitzka seems  to be spot on!!!
I will tell my husband you think I am racist he will really have a good laugh - consider8ng he is Egyptian!!!!

I would send references - they are always good as they show that you can actually walk tge walk - not just talk the talk if you know what I mean.

good luck in your job hunting and hopefully it will be welcome to Cairo in a few months!

just a few - but there are quite a few more

Thanks again,  Biffy,  appreciate your help.
@ Ibrahim please don't think she is racist, she is correct in that there are 'some' on here (not all) that treat this as a dating site (or similar)... hence why my inbox was full!!!

well ibrahim you are right....at the end it is about job here not related to any race or gender!!

Yes of course he is right to be offensive.!!

and if it is about a job (for which I have given my advice) - then how come I am spot on concerning the ladies inbox - at the end of the day she is a young lady that needs to make sure she observes certain safety precautions - and not giving out your details is one -

as one recipient of these ridiculous mails / contact requests ( one of which came from you incidentally) then I am correct to warn her.
I have personal friends who have initially given out their details to people on this forum and others, only to be hectored and harrassed in the worst way possible

and btw race didn't come into it - I never said anything about it.

think also you need to read the post 'Egypt forum code of conduct' - looks like it isn't just us then!!

how is Barcelona btw!!?
