myself and family are thinking of moving to gib, i currently work for morrisons in the uk and hope that a transfer would be of no problem for me, my wife is a Healthcare asst and we have a girl at 14 and boy at 12. Having done a quick search for property, doesnt seem much to buy and the rent seems high, i would imagine that this compare with cost of living, so can someone durect me or give me an average earnings for healthcare asst in gib for my and are these rent prices the norm.

Approach 'GHA' gibr Health Authority via email/web to find out about avg salaries.
In terms of rent, Gib is expensive and will no doubt continue to be expensive, so you either live in Spain - La linea, Los Barrios, Santa Margarita, Alcaidesa etc in a villa or in a smallish appt in Gib.

thanks for the reply, have sent 2 emails to info at gha but not one reply yet, and cant seem to find an email directly for human resources, the places you mentioned for possible living, do they have a large brit population?

Alcaidesa, well most of William Hill Gibraltar live there and lots of both gibraltareans and other nationalities, my friend lives in a nice 2 storey villa with garden and sharing a pool with large grassy area at the bottom of the garden.  The pools always good for getting to know your neighbours. I think she pays euro800/900 per month for it.  Santa Margarita is quieter, lots of empty places so good deal but less brits definately.  La Linea wouldnt really suit a family, now i see you have family.  Los Barrios (furthest away but not far- look at a map), would be the most Spanish, but a friend there really loves it, it has a mix of nationalities, they also live in a complex sharing a pool.

You will be lucky to get a reply from the GHA! but I can tell you that a Health Care worker, whether NVQ Trained or not (and most of them are not since they have only just introduced NVQ training in Gibraltar) is £6.09 per hour plus shift allowance.
