Media or Music Jobs in Amsterdam - what's the job market like?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with looking for a job in media industry in Netherlands - any clues are of a big help! :-) I have completed degree in Media in London and am thinking about looking for an experience somewhere abroad, so if any of you guys can give a little of an insight into what it's like there, it would be lovely :)

(Any piano teachers living/working there?)

Hi nat.bee,

Welcome to Expat.com :)

I moved your topic to the Amsterdam forum as it may help you to receive more specific answers from the members living in Amsterdam.

Unfortunately i am not really aware about job openings for media jobs. However, concerning piano teachers, if you have a look to the Music Classes in Amsterdam section, you will find some Piano and other music teachers there, you may then contact them.

Thank you,

Priscilla

Hi Nat.bee,

Welcome on board to this site.
Before you look at the media job market you have to be sure if your degree is comparable  with the Dutch ones or at least if they accept it. In what kind of direction you are looking for?

Thanks for your replies! :)
Yea, I'll have a look on Music section here, it might bring some light ;)

As for the 'direction' (I suppose you mean what I specialise in) - print journalism mostly (writing articles, reviews, blog
notes and such like).

"you have to be sure if your degree is comparable  with the Dutch ones" - can you expand on it a bit? Does that mean that Dutch have different system of awarding graduates? what is it like?

This is what I don't know and its up to you to find it out  :)

I guess you want to write in English?
Try to find out if there are English magazines or newspapers (which I doubt).

I'm assuming any european degree follows EU standards and can be put in resumes sent all over europe. Try Hilversum's mediapark if you're in holland, the prime filming location for all dutch tv.
