Could anyone recommend a trusted Hungarian tax professional who would be familiar with current Hungarian tax law concerning foreigners working for a Hungarian employer in Hungary?

The short of it is: if you work for a Hungarian employer, and you are physically working in Hungary, your income is taxed in Hungary. And you have to file form 2555 with the IRS to get your income exclusion so you are not double taxed in the US. And you may still be liable for US Social Security tax (since there is no treaty between Hungary and the US for the US social security tax -- so on this you may get double taxed in Hungary and in the US --- best to contact a US based accountant familiar with expat issues for that topic).

If you want, I did contact a tax attorney specialized in Hungary tax for US citizens several years ago and he may still be around and be able to help, but he cost $400 an hour.
