Registering a UK Car in Romania

Hi, I have purchased a Jeep and taken it to Romania where i wanted to register it for Agricultural use. I have been told that due to it having an M1 classification the V5 (Log Book) I can only register it the normal way at a cost of around €4000-5000 euros.

I am told that in the past one could register a vehicle for agricultural use if the vehicle had a cage in the back and was a 4x4 type vehicle that would be suitable on a farm. And the cost was far less at around €450 euro.

As far as i can tell all 4 wheel passenger cars in the UK with less than 8 seats are classed as M1.

Does anyone have any ideas to help? Failing this i think i will need to drive the Jeep back to the UK and sell it as its not economic to pay the fees. The Jeep is worth about €4000!

Thank you

Andy.

Hiya wattsy707,

Have you been in touch with the DVLA in Swansea (UK) ? My brother is moving to Italy and had problems registering a left hand drive 4x4, but the DVLA were really helpful.  Www.gov.uk/contact -the -DVLA

Good luck,
