Hi everyone:) We have lived in several towns in Costa Rica over the past year. This place is beautiful BUT the prices are higher than our good ole USA:( We are doing our research and have decided to explore the Azuero Peninsula this March. The province of Chitre looks promising especially the town of Cubita.

If you could share any of your experiences there we would greatly appreciate your input.

We are also looking at the surrounding area for a long term rental that would accommodate two couples with some "privacy" space and a pool. We travel with our four-legged family members so Pet Friendly is a must! If you know of any contacts that could help please let us know.

Thanks for your help....excited to begin a new adventure!

I left Panamá recently. Avoid the city as it is not an easy lifestyle. Pedasí is quite nice but a little small. I personally couldn't live there fulltime. It's a very laid back beach town, very authentic. The closest bigger city is Las Tablas.

The people on the Azero Peninsula are much more friendly than in the city. I think you'll find Panamá is the reverse of Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, the beaches are more expensive than the capital (which has very cheap housing). Panamá City is expensive by Latin American standards but anything outside of the city is mich cheaper and very undeveloped. Customer service is much better in Costa Rica, obviously, but Panamá seems more 'real'.
