Delay with issuing family visit visa!

has anyone else experienced problems or delays when applying for a family visit visa?

we've applied for one a week ago and still nothing. we've brought family over many times before and this is the first time we've experienced a delay.

the visa is quite urgent so any help will be appreciated

Unknown reasons behind this delay from ministry, those who applied before 18th of December they are getting update on their visa but those who applied after this date their applications are almost dead, I personally applied two visa's one of 18th and its status is updated within a week but the one that I applied on 19th is still in pending status and some of my friends they also applied after 18th and facing the same problem
