GOING TO CARIBBEAN LOOKING FOR WORK.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have sold my business in the uk so have no ties. i have experience in the hospitality trade of owning and running bars/nightclubs/restaurant and am thinking of finding a job in this field of work in the caribbean area.
my plan was to pick an area in the caribbean and visit several islands over 2-4 weeks, and basically do some good old fashioned cold calling on some island resorts etc. people seem to get jobs easier actually doing it in person is what i have found reading posts etc.
so has anyone any ideas on what group of islands i can pick that are all fairly accessible to one another with a reasonable chance of finding work.

Try the north coast of the Dominican Republic. There are always bars and restaurants for sale.  There is a large expat community there. It is still very affordable to live here (but getting more expensive all the time).  It is not easy running an establishment and you really have to know what your are doing to "make" it.  Many try and have no clue... hence many are for sale.

Have you had any success?  I am curious to learn what difficulties an expat would face when trying to work or start a business in a new country.
