Many people buy bikes from abroad and get them shipped to Saudi Arabia. Then they drive out of town and bike there.
If you have a safe route to your job it can be nice, although you will be sweating. Not many jobs offer a shower. But you can dress as you like just have longer shorts to the knee and it will be ok, IMO. And about drivers... sure they dont want to run over you but, for me, it seems very scary to bike in open traffic.

One thing I've noticed over here that I can only assume to be cycle safety related. Everyone cycles towards the traffic. We call them 'salmon cyclists' back in the West.
