Hope this is not a dumb question but will I be able to use an iPad as we travel around?

Yes if you are in a wifi area. Plus, I believe you can then also use Facetime or Skype.

Thank you, I suppose I knew the answer, planning our visit soon and just covering the bases. iPad and Internet is a modern convenience I never leave at home to stay in touch with family, not to mention as a guide and map.
