New in Town

I wish I had known about this blog/website before.. I have been in SP for a month and learnt everything the hard way.. getting a CPF, RNE, renting a place.. lordy, lordy, lordy, the bureaucracy... In any case, now that I am somewhat settled with my workplace and a gym, I have time to look into my social life and would welcome interesting people to associate with.. Best Wishes

Hello lostinconcretejungle,

On behalf of the entire Expat-blog Team, welcome on board. I hope your participation here will be both enjoyable and informative.

I know exactly how you feel, having lived here myself for over eleven years now. When I came here Expat-blog didn't even exist yet and there was absolutely nobody to turn to for information.

In the beginning (after a 6 month stint in Manaus - AM) I lived in São Paulo and everything was a process of learning strictly by trial and error. I'm sure you can imagine exactly how difficult and frustrating that really was.

That is exactly why, since taking on the volunteer position as Expat-blog's Brazil Animator, I've worked so diligently at posting as much factual information and giving as much advice to our members that I possibly can. At least now it's not necessary for every last one of us gringos to have to re-invent the wheel every time we need to do something.

Please take the time to browse through the various postings, especially those that deal with issues surrounding visas, formalities, work and banking. It will be well worth the effort and go a long way towards keeping you from going crazy with all the bureaucracy.
