Hi I am currently looking at kindergarten jobs in the UAE.
I am being sent job applications for both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
I am curious to know is there any difference in living? Culture or anything in-particular that I'm missing and feel I should be made aware of?

Hi Natalie!

Well all the best in the job hunt!
Talking about Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The two most important cities of UAE. They are totally different too.
In landscape, lifestyle, ppl and in many other ways.

Dubai is the place where people come to chill and enjoy life. The options for shopping, eating out, clubs, pubs, places to go etc all outnumber that of Abu Dhabi. Currently the real estate is booming again in Dubai. Abu Dhabi was always expensive for that matter.

Also I do know a lot of people working in Abu Dhabi and staying Dubai, but trust me thats a pain.

Thats all from my side. If u have any specific query let me know.

Regards
Vishal

Abudhabi's economy is highly oil-based, thus packages are usually relatively better for employees, more so if the job is related to oil & gas companies.  Rentwise, it is kind of seasonal.  Dubai saw some crazy peaks 5 years ago, dropped flat with recession, now back to raising rents again (this time more out of hype than much of reality).  Abudhabi was lower in rents at that time, but now it is other way around.
Lifewise, AD is relatively a bit conservative.  Dubai is highly westernized and on 'fast-track' all the time.  Social life and personal activities are perhaps better and wider in Dubai.
Core culture in both places is not too different, after all this is an Islamic country.  However Dubai is more relaxed kind of lifestyle.
It is 160 km approx between AD and D, done usually in less than 2 hrs on highway.  No matter which city you live in, you can easily visit the other.

I guess AD is more a peaceful place to stay, so I love staying in AD, but sometimes me and friends will go to Dubai to spend the weekend there, like shopping, go to the bars. anyway, people have different tasts

The system of paying salaries in the UAE is only monthly, so far I know.

Levels of school classes in grade one? I'm not sure if I understood your question, but anyway if you are referring to curriculums system?

Living in Dubai might cost you IF you live high life style where you often go to clubs, do lot of shopping, parties and just enjoying spending your money here and there, then Dubai is the best place to do so. On the other hand, Abu Dhabi is much quiet, less people comparing to Dubai, no traffic in the morning compared to Dubai (Dubai has the worst traffic jammed packed everyday). I myself moved from Dubai to AD since May and I kinda like it. It depends on your reference in the end, what type of lady are you when it comes to living ways.
