My husband and I want to purchase an investment property in Puerto Rico in the spring; I have searched various areas and want to know if anyone has any opinions on a good area to purchase that would be easy to rent out. I will not be living there until I retire, which unfortunately won't be for a while.

I suggest that you choose a beachfront property. Maybe the ones in Isla Verde or Condado. Palmas del Mar and Dorado are also quite good.
I found a website which provides various information on real estate investment in various countries, PR included. im sure you will find useful their research on Puerto Rico Rental Yields (http://www.globalpropertyguide.com/Cari … tal-Yields)
They also have a Buying Guide, an overview of the country, average prices of property. It's brilliant I promise!
