Touristic business in Cebu

Hi everybody,

I would like to know if launching a business in Cebu is profitable, like opening a Hotel or Restaurant...

Is it expensive &/or complicated ?

Many thanks in advance for your advices..:)

unless u are filipino  or have a filipino wife  u can not open either

sure people will tell u  that u can set up a corporation   and have 4 dummy locals as your front men   but    if any of them get wise  and decide to take your business   well  even if u have 100% of the said  stocks    u still end up in jail for 15 years  lose your business and everything u have invested

but  more fun in the philippines  right?

Thank you for your reply.

At least, if I have a filipino partner, It might be possible I suppose...
From where i can get the rules or procedure to make that happens...
Again thanks

Challenger27, you have such an idea which is close to mine with one difference that my wife is actually filipino therefor things are easier for me. A while ago I posted somewhere in the forum about interested people who want to participate in a cooperative business (Close to what you are asking about), if you are interested I'll be in Philippines 11th of July and we can talk about it. PM me if you don't mind.

Mabuhay !!

Challenger27! I used to travel in the  Philippines and I would suggest that before you launch any business , just hire a group that they can give you detailed information like feasible studies for business. You can find that very reliable and effective group of people in the internet in the Phils . But before the feasible studies, look for the young professional in the Philippines that can provide you a different business proposition based on your plan.

Good luck!

Tanks Fraciskitx,

I am planning to visit Cebu next December for 2 weeks to study the market from there...
Again thank you.

Regards.:)

It's good to see your interest in doing business in Philippines.

Things might not be complicated if you study everything before you start any business and it will be more easier for you if there's somebody who can guide or help you. Cebu is a beautiful place and December is a peak season for any business...

I have been here only 1.5 years but have seen countless people open businesses and watch them fail...

Most people love the idea of coming here to thrive, but remember.. most of what you can do here... the locals can do with much smaller profit margins...

Unless you have extensive experience in the restaurant or hotel industry, I would not invest... And based on the fact you are not definitive on one, it leads me to believe you may not be a specialist in either...

Not trying to rain on your parade... Just don't want to see another foreigner come here with dreams of success only to pack up and go home a year later...

All the best :)
