English Teachers, which Masters is the best for career

Hi all

If an ESOL teacher has an unrelated degree, and would like to take up a Masters to better their job prospects in the KSA..

Which Masters do you recommend? What are recruiters looking for most?

Masters in English Language Teaching
Masters in Applied Linguistics
Masters in English
Masters in Education
Other?

Also, how is it looked upon if the Masters is done online via distance learning, but at an accredited UK university?

Regards

All of the above are acceptable; however, an MA in Education with a TEFL focus is better.

Others include:

MA in TESOL / MA in TEFL
MA in Language Education
MA in Bilingual Education
MA in Adult Education with TEFL/TESL focus
MA in Curriculum and Instruction with TEFL focus
MA in Teaching (MAT) in Multidisciplinary Studies with TEFL focus

Some Saudi universities (presumedly government ones) will not accept an online/distance degree, even if it's from an accredited, Anglophone uni with a bricks-n-mortar campus. GO to the Saudi job discussion forum on Dave's ESL Cafe--there's been discussion on this topic.

And check out the international job board at Dave's, too,  to see what employers/recruiters are looking for (it is often mentioned that online degrees aren't accepted).

That's what I'm leaning towards in the future.  Back home, not online.
