Endorsement of Work Permit in Spouse's passport

My husband's passport has gone in for his work permit, and my passport went in at the same time to be endorsed with his work permit number in order for me to continue staying in Ghana.  However I was told by the company to fill in my own separate application, photographs, marriage certificate and have been charged for a full permit as well, which has come as a surprise to my husband's company as it is extremely costly.
Does this sound correct? Is this normal procedure?

I have never done this so have no idea as to whether it is standard practice. I had to get a permit to live here as the spouse of a Ghanaian and had to submit the marriage certificate etc but it wasn't very expensive. However it is only a resident's permit.
It sounds like they might be issuing you a work permit so perhaps the company could follow up to see what type of permit you are getting.
