GOALS
My short term goal is to find any employment in or near Singapore and acquire a work permit. My long term goal is to start a career in or near Singapore. I am willing to do any kind of work but I think that I would excel in a mechanical, shipping, construction or customer service position. I have also played guitar for 15 years and would love to work in entertainment if not for a career just for fun. I am hoping to earn enough to allow me to pay rent and continue to live in Singapore. Thank you for your consideration, I hope that I can put my skills to use with your team.

Without a university degree, you cannot get an EP (employment pass, the work visa for higher qualifications and salaries above S$4000/month).
WP (work permit, the work visa for manual labour earning below S$2000/month) is usually given only to people from third world countries.
S-Pass (the work visa inbetween those two, for salaries around S$2000-4000/month) requires a technical certificate. Ask MoM (Ministry of Manpower) if any of your certs is recognised. If not, don't waste your time looking for work in Singapore!
There is also no scope for informal, part-time or freelance work in Singapore. The only thing I could think of, seeing your military background, is joining the Singapore army - and that would only work if you have very specific niche skills that are rare in Singapore.
Good luck - you will need it!

Seems I will. Thank you. At least I got to re-unite with the girl I fell in love with in Baghdad. Next stop Tajikstan.

The things people do for love ...

I got a job offer today from Shun Zou Marine Trading company, The owner and the manager that I talked to are both ex-military and wanted to help me out. He wants to meet me at 5 today to get copies of my passport and DL. That means I am one step away from a permit right? Getting approved by the MoM?!?!

Congratulations!
Yes, getting MoM to approve your work visa is the next big hurdle. Ask your employer to write up in detail why they need to hire you and not a suitably qualified local (e.g. by showing their unsuccessful attempts to find such a local and explaining that their business has a genuine need for your skills) - that will improve your chances!

Congrats! Be sure you read all about living and working in Singapore before you enter Singapore to avoid culture shock.  Do you have friends in Singapore?
